IMO, the white guys that are shown on those pictures as “acting black”, are just acting ignorant. Bows, if you believe that “acting black” is speaking incorrect English (not “white), wearing baggy clothes, and just being down right thuggish, this you are sadly mistaken. If a black guy only wears polo, j. crew, etc, does that mean he is “acting white” – no he is acting like a normal human being. If you see someone acting like someone those pictures, then they are not acting black – they are acting stupid.

I agree they are acting ignorant. Let me ask you this, where did that thuggish urban style originate from and which race (white or black) are usually ones dressed in that fashion? Be honest don't sugar coat it. I am not referring to the guys in your graduate program either.

I can’t tell you who invented the thug image because there have been different images of thugs throughout history (and of all races). But I can tell people of all races contribute and capitalize on the “urban thug image”. But you are right; you will see a black person in that style of clothing before you see someone of another race in the “urban thug” attire. Although the majority of the people who wear this attire are black, the majority of black (that I see) do not wear or even like the attire. Contrary to popular belief, all black people are not the same and do not like the same things. Quite frankly, I am (and know many black people) that are disgusted by the image and how it reflects me/them (because other can’t detach it from the entire race). Also contrary to popular belief, all white people are not the same. That urban thug image could easily be equated with the gothic image that many white people portray. Are you comfortable with that image? I would easily find a picture of a white gothic person and say that they are acting white (because the majority of people wearing that style are white).
Sorry for the book.

Listen guys, we've acknowledged that all black people don't act like thugs. We know that. Some are doctors and lawyers, and have no desire to be rappers or gangsters. However, the idea that the thuggish image in this country is not derived from popular black culture is complete bs. Was it influenced by others things? Probably, but it was popularized by black culture. Also, its not just the inner city thug black people who use incorrect grammar and wear baggy clothes with a sideways hat. Go to any college in the country, and you'll see that. Hell, go on some of the black GLO threads on here, and people talk like that. Now, I'm not going into why people do it, or whatever, its their choice. However, some of you are denying things that are simply fact.

Once again, since I stated this before in this thread, this is not necessarily the same thing as saying someone is "speaking or dressing black."
