The college area of Gainesville isn't southern but if you step a few miles out of the UF radius, it's all cow pastures and barns. My roommate freshman year was from Hawthorne. She told me stories of her chickens, cows and horses that were on her farm and how her best friend got run over by a tractor.
My suitemates and I were South Florida girls. We corrupted her. heh heh
