I don't think "nice guys" necessarily finish last. The problem is with guys who are "too nice." I like to get flowers, but not every day! That makes a girl think the guy is desperate.
And when you ask a girl out on a date, have a few things for her to choose from. Don't be "too nice" and just say, "What do you want to do?" Girls like guys who take the time to plan.
Be careful about calling too much. There's nothing that sends me running away quicker than a guy who calls and calls and calls and calls.
I'm not advocating game playing-- but a guy has to show a little restraint when he's head over heals for a girl. Be a little bit of a challenge.
