Ummm, I found out about Rick Mercer several months ago. There was something in Toronto's Starweek about it when his new show debuted. I'm just sick and tired of the liberal politics in this country, that's all...and I don't just mean the government in Ottawa (and Queen's Park). We don't have any values here anymore.....I'm surprised that people from more conservative countries are moving in.

People think that homosexuality or bisexuality in Hollywood is a new thing, but it really isn't, at all. When doing research on "Rebel Without a Cause," you would be surprised at how many (substantiated) rumors of bisexuality and homosexuality there was among the cast -- of course Sal Mineo, but I believe the director might have been involved/wanted to be involved with both Sal Mineo and James Dean, there's homosexual subtext throughout the film, of course some people speculate that Sal Mineo's character was supposed to have a crush on James Dean's character (although others think it was supposed to be more of a paternal relationship, it's hard to tell because naturally with the regulations of that time period there was NO WAY a homosexual relationship or even homosexual tendencies could be portrayed in mainstream cinema) -- so many things I can't even think of right now. People think of celebrities of that age (or earlier ages) as being so classy and reserved and uptight, but in reality tons and tons of celebrities back in the day behaved in ways that would be considered scandalous today -- it just wasn't reported in the mainstream news the way it might be now, and it was banned from the movies and television themselves for a long time. Lots of members of the European nobility, spanning centuries, also engaged in homosexual behavior, although many biographers have downplayed or even ignored this aspect of history . . .
