How do i contact FIGP? Recently my fraternity was sued by an independent student who was punched by our bouncer in spring 2003 (before i was a brother). Even though we have one of the best multinational law firms representing us pro bono, we are still having trouble obtaining insurance. The event which resulted in the law suit prompted the school to look at all of the greek houses insurance policies. We found that ours has a pretty broad alcohol exclusion. Because of the lawsuit kirklin wont touch us. We need to find another carrier if we want to stay around much longer. For various reasons we havent been associated with a national for 4 years, and are chartered under a different name, although we are essentially the same fraternity we used to be (and they dont seem to mind, they get out composites in the mail every year with the seal on it and they havent said anything).
Our last option is recolonizing with a different national, which we (and our alums) would rather not do.
