Does it play on your TV's DVD player? If so, what formats does your DVD player support?

Could be a lot of things -- DVD SVCD, VCD just to name a few. If you know the format, that's your starting point. I think you can get software to copy these things on download.com. Try typing into the search "DVD Copy" or something to that effect.

I use Nero, works great. I've never tried to copy a movie DVD before. I know it can be done. Some kid up in Norway cracked the codec and wrote some sort of software to backup DVD's with.
