Anyone know how to copy DVD's?
I got a DVD of one of the services for my Aunt. Before I send it to her, I'd like a copy, but am trying to avoid paying for another one. Anyone know a downloadable program that can copy DVD's? I tried it in my RealOne Player and it didn't work.

In what format is it burned?
Is it a DVD or a video CD? You'll need a DVD burner for starters. The rest is software. For DVD writing, I usually use Nero. |
I don't know the difference between a DVD and a video CD. It's a copy of church services on a disc...other than that, I can't tell you. I'm not able to play it thru my realplayer, if that helps. So a regular CD burner doesn't work?

Does it play on your TV's DVD player? If so, what formats does your DVD player support?
Could be a lot of things -- DVD SVCD, VCD just to name a few. If you know the format, that's your starting point. I think you can get software to copy these things on download.com. Try typing into the search "DVD Copy" or something to that effect. I use Nero, works great. I've never tried to copy a movie DVD before. I know it can be done. Some kid up in Norway cracked the codec and wrote some sort of software to backup DVD's with. |
Thanks, I'll check it out. :)

If it's an actually DVD - you'll need a DVD-burner to copy it (more common on new computers). If it's a VCD etc then chances are Nero will work for you.
If copywrite isn't an issue (doesn't sounds like it) chances are you could look up computer shops (repair or retail) and one of them will be able to help you. :) |
Okay, upon furthur inspection, I think it may be a VCD, though I'm not 100% sure. I know it's not a DVD. I'm going to try Nero, it's downloading as I type. I'll let you know if it worked. :)
