Yeah but from another perspective, since I have worked with homeless people, some of them are perfectly happy living like this. I've had several clients who had housing all ready and waiting and they sabotaged (spelling?) it because they couldn't deal with the "responsibilities" that come along with having an apt, paying bills, etc. There are a lot of other issues tied into this problem as well but there are support systems available. Overall I think the cost of living is way too expensive for most people living in NY but I don't think that is going to change any time soon.
