I second having someone stay with you or have someone come and pick you up and take you away from your apartment for the weekend. Do your parents live in the same state? Maybe stay with them for the weekend? Try staying with another sister or something.
I also suggest, for the future of course, take a self defense class. They are really helpful and sometimes that skill is a lot easier and quicker to use than trying to find pepperspray. And if you find yourself outside alone, carry your keys so that the ends stick in between your fingers. They can be a pretty good weapon as well.
I hope they find the guy. And maybe for a weekend, your cats won't mind that they can't look outside. I'd keep the blinds shut.
