I think you are missing his point. He was saying that because HE DOESN'T want to do that anymore. When you say you are tired of doing something it means you want to change.
Plus, later in the episode, Tara, confronts him on what he said and he explains himself to her and to the audience.
I think it is stupid for us to assume that somehow he is a perfect person, he isn't by any means and that is what he is trying to get across. That he was young and stupid and he made mistakes and he has grown and changed and learned from them.
I think we should give Jesse the benefit of the doubt (which is more than I can say I'm willing to do for Trish)
