Buzz Aldrin will correct you otherwise... the actual first words spoken were 'Contact light... OK, engine stop.' But Armstrong does get the credit for reporting in to Mission Control in Houston.
BTW, didja know that the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas actually claims Masonic territorial jurisdiction for the Moon? Brother Buzz Aldrin, a member of Clear Lake Lodge #1417 carried a letter from then Grand Master of Masons J. Guy Smith which ordered him to make 'due return of his actions' while temporarily appointed his representative. He took the letter to the Moon and back, and now the letter (duly certified by Brother Aldrin) is on display at the Texas Masonic Grand Lodge Library and Museum in Waco.
In 1999, a special lodge of the Grand Lodge of Texas was formed. Tranquility Lodge #2000 is open to all Texas Master Masons and other Master Masons whose grand lodge is in fraternal relations with Texas.

Sam Houston is actually the only person who has ever served as the governor of two different states.
More Alamo defenders were from Tennessee than from any where else. That with Sam Houstons former service in Tennessee lead a Texas judge to famously declare, "You scratch a Texan, you'll find a Tennessean underneath."
I so dont like to hear that.....
Rockytop does tho....

South Padre was pretty rad tad. I also went to Port Aransas and it was happening out there too.
One of the best things about living in South Texas: You have a giant spring break party in your back yard.

Ain't much happening in the West End... not like Sixth Street in Austin or the Riverwalk in San Antonio! Except on OU-vs-Texas weekend!
