It's unfortunate that one member's poor judgment has such a detrimental effect on an entire chapter and Greek Community.

In the rape case, I'm not sure if the paper
could publish the name of the fraternity or the member until after a formal investigation. And then it's only if the Police (and I think the victim) will release the name. (Though I could be wrong, it's been about 5 years since I took my last newspaper journalism class.) Since the accident was in the police logs, it's considered public record and the fact that the driver was in a sorority and it was their supposedly-dry bid day made it all that more newsworthy.
