Lexus + Bid Day + Booze = Trouble at Vandy

Thank heaven there were only minor injuries! However, a traffic accident apparently could lead to an investigation about possible / alleged violation of alcohol-free sorority Bid Day rules at Vanderbilt. The Vanderbilt Hustler's January 20 story is at

Just another reason to say it again: don't drink and drive.

Be safe out there, people.

Especially not in a LEXUS!! For crying out loud, borrow your little brother's crappy Ford Escort.

:p yes I'm kidding - how spread out is this campus? I never understand why college students drink and drive in the first place.

and the fact that the newspaper is called "The Hustler" never fails to crack me up.

Yeah I hear ya! Don't EFF up your Lexus!
It was a good thing that no one was seriously injured!

My sister (bio) was hit head on by a DD on St. Patty's Day 1998  How she survived, I dunno (she wasn't wearing a seatbelt). Her leg was broken in 7 places and a few facial lacerations.

But do NOT drink and drive...is it worth losing your freedom and having blood on your hands?

Because she decided to drink and drive, she has now embarrassed herself, her family, and her sorority.

I think all schools should have a drunk bus. While we all laugh about it and we sometimes hate when we have to sit by some obnoxious drunk on the way home when you feel really sick, it was a wonderful thing. It took me from downtown back to UCF safely a countless number of times. For that, I thank you drunk bus.

I chuckled when I saw "The Hustler", too.

Of course my first thought was...I'm glad no one was hurt.

My second thought after reading this in "The Hustler" was...
How sad to drive a Lexus and not drink a better champagne!

"Found inside the defendant’s vehicle was an open bottle of Skyy vodka and an empty bottle of Cook’s champagne."

PsychTau 01-20-2004 03:45 PM

Glad no one was hurt, although they could have been (didn't I read where the Saab flipped? Scary.

Guys, please be safe on the roads. Watch out for other drivers as well. You never know what's going to happen.

I did have to giggle a bit when telling this story to my husband. It sounded like all the "bad sorority girl stereotypes" wrapped up in one article!!!

Well, NutBrnHair, you made me curious. I had never heard of Cook's, but most of the wonderful world of wine and liquor is a mystery to me. Listings and ratings for "Champagne" turned up the familiar names, but not Cook's. So I tried "sparkling" and bingo! It isn't a Champagne at all, at least not according to French law, but one review said Cook's was a pretty good value in its price class IF you found it on sale for under $5 a bottle. Now I see your point: we're not talking about serious competition with Veuve Clicquot, Roederer, Dom Perignon and the like.

:D Snicker :D Lifelong learning -- that's what GC is about!

Because of a Treaty sorry cannot remember when, a treaty was not signed by The USA, China, and Russia about Champagne.

Can Call it Champagne. Now, Asti Treaty was decided to fall it Asti because of The Region of Asti,(Italy) such as the same way as Champagne of France!

Signifies Sparkling wing! Yes Cooks is a semi priced wine of sparkling wine!

So What!!.

This Young lady is getting cruxified for have Alchohol and driving. Is it bad, yes.:(

I wish our drunk bus was free!!!
Maybe I should point out this drunk bus takes us to the bars and back(and usually Atlantic City), since there is nothing on campus or within walking distance...but I do long for the Drunk Buses a la Rutgers.
There is talk of making the campus dry, which I am worried will already make matters worse, and lead to instances just like this one.
