I have had to report my card missing. The bank told me if there were unauthorized charges they would redeposit the funds from any transactions that took place from the time I lost the card. If the investigation showed the charges were mine, the funds would be debited from my account. They also told me if any checks were accidentally returned they would pay any fees I incurred from that the company I wrote the check too, along with an explanation to the company that it was a bank error.
