It often depends on the rules set up by your campus panhellenic. They will normally define a minimum GPA standard to participate in recruitment. There will be a minimum for current students, one for new freshmen, and one for transfers. For instance, at my university, you must have a 2.25 to participate in recruitment. If you're an incoming freshmen or transfer, you must have a 2.5.

Also, chapters have a GPA requirement as well, that may very well be higher than what campus sets. If you're interested in a particular sorority, you may inquire with them at rush about what their minimum GPA to join is.
