I went to my prom: class of 1988.
I wore purple and black that I designed and had a seamstress put together. She was so excited that she added a shawl and gave me a rhinestone neckalce.
I wasn't prom queen and can't remember who was. I think one of my puerto rican sistahs was crowned prom queen.

I went to the prom solo. I was suppose to go with a friend that I knew since the second grade, but he ganked me and I went solo. My mother was pissed because she paid for the limo and it was too late to cancel. So I rode in a limo with a friend who was meeting her date at the venue (he worked there

My prom was, I think, $54.
I remeber going to my seat so embarrased because I was by myself and sitting a table that seated about 10 people. Some of the guys I knew said "where's your date?" I was like, lets not talk about that tonight. One brotha said, "I was going to ask you but I just knew you had a date." Mind you no one asked me to the date, that's why I asked my "friend."
The guy I really wanted to take me to the prom said no because I wasn't going to give him no azz.
well he didn't say it, but I knew that was the reason.
I did give my number to this brotha, that I'd met the past year and who said he "lost" it. He ended up being my "first" -years later.
