Do you really think she would have blown up at him, though? The girls knew that whoever he picked was at least going to get a ring . . . so even if he didn't have any money, it couldn't hurt them to at least show up because they'd at least get another piece of jewelry to sell after the show's over.
I think Sarah would have pasted on that wonderfully fake smile of hers, shown up in the ballroom, pretended it was love and then dumped him as soon as the camera turned off.
