Actually, the tongue piercing is the LEAST likely to get infected out of any piercing you could get. It doesn't hurt at all, and I don't know why your guy friend took antibiotics for it... I didn't and have never heard of that. I have some friends who have tongue rings, and they didn't do anything besides gargle with mouthwash (as did I). I think the easiness of removing and replacing the barbell is about as easy as it is to do any ring in a piercing. At first it is sort of hard to get used to, but now I switch mine to match with different outfits. Silly, I know. But I think it was harder to get used to changing my nose ring. It took me an hour to get it out the first time, because of the curves... But now I have no problem with it.
