RE: I don't have problems with tongue rings, but I'll never get one. It just seems like too much trouble. My guy friend got one, and he had to take antibiotics for awhile just to prevent infection. I also heard if you take if off, it's hard to put it back on.
Actually, the tongue piercing is the LEAST likely to get infected out of any piercing you could get. It doesn't hurt at all, and I don't know why your guy friend took antibiotics for it... I didn't and have never heard of that. I have some friends who have tongue rings, and they didn't do anything besides gargle with mouthwash (as did I). I think the easiness of removing and replacing the barbell is about as easy as it is to do any ring in a piercing. At first it is sort of hard to get used to, but now I switch mine to match with different outfits. Silly, I know.
But I think it was harder to get used to changing my nose ring. It took me an hour to get it out the first time, because of the curves... But now I have no problem with it.
