Great question, I totally understand why you’d ask!
I have a pretty small social circle, and none of my friends are members of a sorority. Honestly, I think this might be a regional situation; most of us went to small, New England-based colleges that had little to no Greek Life. Part of the reason I decided to pursue AI in the first place was to expand my horizons and build friendships with women I might not have met otherwise, and joining an organization built on shared values and volunteer efforts seemed like the perfect way to do just that.
Out of all the organizations I researched while considering AI, Kappa stood out the most. Its philanthropy, values, and overall mission align closely with the kind of service work I already take part in and the kind I want to grow into. I definitely don’t want it to seem like I’m overlooking other options - I’ve had wonderful chats with Alumnae Initiate members of Alpha Chi Omega, Gamma Phi Beta, and Pi Beta Phi. At the end of the day, though, I’ve made an intentional choice based on what feels like the strongest personal fit.
Basically, I’ve reached the point where the next step isn’t more research, it’s meeting real Kappas and seeing if we genuinely click face-to-face. Or, in this case, screen-to-screen!
