Seeking KKG Alumnae Connections (Applying for AI)
Hi, Everyone!
I’m currently in the process of applying for Alumnae Initiation into Kappa Kappa Gamma as a complete newbie to both the organization and Greek Life on the whole. Headquarters kindly tried to point me toward my state’s alumnae association (Shoreline East Connecticut), but it appears to be in the middle of re-forming, so, unfortunately, there’s no way for me to get in contact with them at the moment. Since I don’t have a local chapter to reach out to, I’m trying to build connections on my own, which, honestly, is a little tricky when you’re self-employed and not active on social media. That’s where this post comes in! I thought this forum might be a great place to find Kappa alumnae who’d be open to chatting, sharing their experiences, or offering a bit of guidance as I move forward in my application. A little about me:
If you’re a Kappa alumna open to connecting, however briefly, I’d be so grateful to hear from you. Thanks in advance! |
Why is Kappa specifically the target of your desire to AI? Why wouldn’t you want to AI with an organization who counts its members as people with whom you already have a relationship?

I have a pretty small social circle, and none of my friends are members of a sorority. Honestly, I think this might be a regional situation; most of us went to small, New England-based colleges that had little to no Greek Life. Part of the reason I decided to pursue AI in the first place was to expand my horizons and build friendships with women I might not have met otherwise, and joining an organization built on shared values and volunteer efforts seemed like the perfect way to do just that. Out of all the organizations I researched while considering AI, Kappa stood out the most. Its philanthropy, values, and overall mission align closely with the kind of service work I already take part in and the kind I want to grow into. I definitely don’t want it to seem like I’m overlooking other options - I’ve had wonderful chats with Alumnae Initiate members of Alpha Chi Omega, Gamma Phi Beta, and Pi Beta Phi. At the end of the day, though, I’ve made an intentional choice based on what feels like the strongest personal fit. Basically, I’ve reached the point where the next step isn’t more research, it’s meeting real Kappas and seeing if we genuinely click face-to-face. Or, in this case, screen-to-screen! :) |

op I sent you a pm. so sorry you were met with such a nasty attitude. and here I thought GC was for promoting friendship between women... |
TBH, within the past month I've read on the public KKG website a statement encouraging women to apply for KKG Alum Initiation.
If that is NOT what current KKG members think should be encouraged on their public website, they ought to let their Exec Board/HQ know ASAP. If I happened across some false KKG international website.with false information, that's news to me. |

I am not opposed to AI, but I feel as if there should be a genuine existing connection for those to whom it is extended. It shouldn’t be a money grab, which is all that I can determine that just letting anyone interested join is. |

My issue is people “shopping” for a sorority. It’s weird. That same website requires a Kappa sponsor. That’s what she’s looking for by posting here. She has met with members of THREE other sororities. Those didn’t work out, so Kappa is next on her list. |
I understand Alumnae Initiation isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. To clarify, I’m not looking for recommendation letters or a sponsor - I already have those in place. I’m also not “shopping” for a sorority; I’ve chosen Kappa with intention, and my only goal in posting was to meet more members and learn from their experiences.
I’m grateful to the many Kappas who have been welcoming and kind to me elsewhere, and I look forward to carrying that same spirit of sisterhood forward if I’m lucky enough to receive a bid through AI. I only posted here because it’s an AI-focused forum and I thought it would be a good fit, but clearly I may have misread the tone of this space. |
Long-time GCers likely recall the other reason people in This Space are leery of people coming here and creeping Kappa.

Oh, that was terrifying.
