Officially, since 1990, all NPHC groups made pledging illegal. So you don't have these activities now, except for Membership Presentation Programs (wrongly called Probates, since that was a part of the previous era with pledging with its public nature). The problem now is the proliferation of "underground" activities, which are prohibited not only as sanctioned activities but also prohibited for an aspirant to consent to participate in these activities making them ineligible to become a member of the Fraternity.
