This is good stuff, AGDee. I’m glad y’all enjoyed each other this holiday season. Do y’all get together every weekend or during the week too?
|
It's a 2 hour and 37 minute drive each way (172 miles), so it's just weekends.

One of my daughter's sorority sisters, who was from Atlanta, had no idea what the defroster button in her car was for until they had a big snowstorm and GenerallyGreek was schooling her on how to clear off your car. She was also totally unfamiliar with the practice of starting your car first so it warms up and makes the job easier. Also, her sisters were incredibly impressed with the long "scraper on one end/brush on the other" car clearing tool GG had -- "what is this incredibly handy invention with which I was previously unfamiliar?!!"

That weather and that drive was unreal. When we stopped to buy gas and more washer fluid, I chipped ice off of his headlights and had to "whap" the windshield wipers against the windshield to get all the ice off of them. There was nothing on the back lights or windows. So weird. My brother had a similar experience when he went to UNC Chapel Hill. I guess when I move to the west side, we'll have to get together!

I forgot to mention that I met the son that lives out of state this weekend AND I met TKEGuy's ex-wife. It was an eventful weekend for sure.

The ex? Well, that’s interesting. So, how’d that go?
And his son? Was he nice and accepting? How many kids does TKE Guy have?

She was really nice. She made a point to say that she was really happy that we found each other.
The son was nice. He has two sons. I've spent a little more time with the local one and his girlfriend. One is 28 (almost 29 - the one who lives in Vegas near his mom) and one is 24 (who lives near TKEGuy). My kids are 29 and 31.

That’s great, Dee. I’m still amazed at how the two of you reconnected after all those years. I mean, with previous marriages and families within that gap would make that nearly impossible, it seems. Without social media connections, do you think you’d have ever found each other again?

WIFLSRN: I’m going to have my work cut out for me next week. My hubby is picking up the girls cookie inventory today, so next week, since he’ll be in Michigan for work for a week, that leaves me to do all the Girl Scout, gymnastics, and tennis meets alone next week, plus work. But we’re going to watch my alma mater play basketball Saturday, which should be fun. That should keep my mind off of next week for a few hours, lol.
Gooooooo Gophers!

Don't forget that Michigan is playing Sparty on Friday for first place in the Big Ten. You need to watch so that your bad luck cheering will cause Sparty to lose.
Go Blue!
BTW, do you have a gopher get-up for the Minnesota game? I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that "skanky gopher" is not a readily available Halloween costume you could find online and repurpose, lol.

No- without social media, we would not have reconnected. Although it's kind of funny as we talk about our lives while we were apart- we lived in the same complex apartment complex, in the SAME building, one year apart. There were many times we were relatively close to each other geographically. We were even at the same concert once. It's weird!

Since you don’t know how to cook, with dude being gone for a week means fast food for a week for y’all LOL!
Hope he doesn’t get car jacked while he’s in Detroit.

Ahem… Yoo-hoo… missy. Who lost? Go GREEN! And as for what I’m wearing to the Gophers game tomorrow for team spirit, it’s my old Minnesota cheerleading jacket that I’m wearing. I kept it all these years, something a Michigan alum doesn’t do. I mean, you just loved my Vikings dress and spirit — so envious.
And now that Blue Boy has now become The Blue Mullet, that’s become Michigan’s new mascot. Oh, and don’t get me started on that guy you guys picked to represent your Lions team whenever they’d win, lol.

Omg, seriously? lol, wow, Dee. That’s wild. That’s proof that this was all timing.

Fast food? No, we don’t eat fast food because it’s gross, unhealthy and like really fattening. He’s leaving me his recipes, so I’m either going to emerge from next week as a five-star chef, or we’re going to have a really close relationship with the fire department, lol.

He’ll be in Ann Arbor, not Detroit. But if he decides to visit Detroit, I’m not worried about a carjacking. I mean, they found my Vikings ship stripped on cinder blocks in the Detroit River after the first Vikings/Detroit game there. As long as he doesn’t park near the water, he might still have four tires when he gets back to his hotel in Ann Arbor. Besides, if he does visit Detroit while he’s there, I’ll just tell him to rent like a 1992 Buick or something, with one hubcap and a busted taillight — blends right in. Don’tcha think?
