So sorry for the delay. Something suddenly came up.

Fluffy did not receive a dreaded call, so she knew she had a bid! As time wore on, she realized that she would be perfectly happy with either Cindy or Marcia. She promised to text me the minute she opened her card. Fluffy didn't know that I secretly drove to campus with her mom to see her bid day celebration.

Now, this school has an unusual bid day tradition. The PNMs receive their bids in the student center, then, an announcer introduces them one at a time to the sorority members and parents waiting outside. This may have been a good idea when there were 2 or 3 sororities and quota was 15, but it was a bit long with over 200 PNMs. Over and over, "the ladies of Alice welcome Mary Smith." "The ladies of Jan welcome Anne Jones." Oh my.

Since Fluffy did not know I was outside waiting to hear her announced, she texted me that she was a new member of her first choice, Cindy! Fluffy was thrilled. The Cindys all had crazy red, white, and blue tulle bows in their hair. I was very impressed with the Cindys, who have only been on this campus for 1 year. I was also very impressed with the balance among the chapters. There really was no stereotype in the new members or the members I saw waiting to greet them. (I will say I was surprised at her early assessment that the Marcias were "boring" because they were by far the most spirited in welcoming their new members.)

We all went to the Cindy house and got a tour from their advisor. I was pleased to see that they renovated and there were not orange countertops. The house is small but tastefully decorated. There were lions and diamonds everywhere, because this house is the home of ALPHA DELTA PI!

Oddly enough, Fluffy has always loved lions, and I had bought a charm bracelet for her the previous year. I gave her a lion charm for bid day, and hoped it would bring good luck (unlike that nasty taboo tiki!)

Congrats to Fluffy!!!
My school used to do this! A couple of girls in my wing rushed so we went to see where they ended up to up to support. I think it happened all day so people would stop by in between classes to watch girls get called. I'm sure it would really take forever now-a-days.

s year.
One school does that near here, but there are only 5 chapters with quota of 13-18 per year. Personally, that tradition drives me crazy.

Congratulations, Fluffy!!

So happy to have another Alpha on board - may you always be as excited to be a member of Alpha Delta Pi as you are on Bid Day!!

Okay, true confessions time: my ADPi nickname was Fluffy, and variations thereof! This is truly exciting for this Fluffy!
