A Very Brady Recruitment
Here's the story
of a lovely lady who was rushing at a medium Midwestern school **************************************** Ok, enough of that :p My little PNM, Fluffy, went to the Panhellenic summer tea and met ladies from the 5 NPC sororities on campus Cindy Jan Marcia Carol Alice She liked all of them, but Cindy stood out to her. To add to Cindy's appeal, Fluffy's absolute best friend from high school pledged Cindy at a nearby school just a few weeks after the summer tea. Fluffy has no greek affiliations, but she has an adult mentor ;) who helped her get recs for each chapter on campus. Fluffy isn't the typical sorority type. Sure, she has lovely long blonde hair (she is a Brady after all), and is sweet as can be, but she isn't necessarily a rah-rah oh.my.gosh. in your face extrovert. I had several conversations with her about not being turned off by the cheerleading aspect of recruitment, and to try to answer questions in a way that helps her rushers get to know her, since she is a bit hard to get to know at first. Surprisingly to me, she is very excited about recruitment! Fluffy loves her Rho Gamma and had fun at orientation where the Rho Gammas sang songs of each chapter on campus. Finally day one arrived. PNMs boarded a bus to the chapter houses. Half of the PNMs started in the morning, but Fluffy got to sleep in because her group didn't start til afternoon. Yes, she had to deal with brutal heat, but she said it wasn't too bad. She wore her Panhellenic t-shirt and shorts. She added a distinctive necklace to set herself apart. (Her mother was horrified, but I convinced her it would help Fluffy stand out.) After 5 parties in the extreme heat, Fluffy was exhausted and losing her voice. Her comments were: Cindy - really liked them a lot. #2 on her list so far Jan - seemed "really weird". I gave Fluffy the Panhellenic pep talk. You met 2 Jans. That is hardly enough to judge the entire chapter. Plus, Jan is a huge national group with lots to offer. Maybe the Jans she met were having trouble finding their identity. Maybe her rusher's boyfriend, George Glass, had just dumped her! Maybe she was sick of always being in her older sister's shadow! Marcia - Fluffy liked Marcia ok but thought they were a bit boring. I told her that maybe the Marcias were tired. Maybe they were recovering from a football injury. You never know. Carol - Fluffy fell in love with Carol. The Carols always had the perfect thing to say and made her feel very welcome. She could tell that the Carols would never play ball in the house. Alice - Fluffy liked Alice a lot. They were like a second mom. She could see herself bringing her problems to them and getting good advice. Fluffy ranked the chapters like this: Carol Cindy Alice Marcia Jan |
LOL, Love!!!
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! (Said Jan) |
Love this story because 1 - it's a recruitment story; 2 - totally cute nicknames for the groups; and 3 - the PNM is Fluffy - SO FUN!!!

I don't know, I hear that Alice gets "special meat deliveries" from SAM - I mean, Sam the butcher. That might be a factor :p

Okay what's said is when I read the first three lines I was actually singing them to the Brady Bunch tune.

Fluffy is back from day 2 of recruitment. PNMs could return to a maximum of 4 chapters for 50 minute parties. Fluffy was thrilled to have 4 invitations, and they were to her favorites! (Sorry, Jan, but you know everyone likes Marcia better...)
Fluffy wore a cute sundress today for skit day. The day started at Marcia, who had an Alice in Wonderland theme going on. She liked Marcia ok, but truthfully, she couldn't figure out how they ever got Davy Jones to play at the prom because they just weren't that energetic. Their skit would have benefitted from a pop idol. Next Fluffy went to Cindy. Fluffy couldn't get out of her mind that her BFF pledged Cindy at a different school. It must be fate that she should also be a Cindy, right? She and her BFF Tiger could get matching Kitty Carry Alls! The Cindy's had a patriotic theme and Fluffy thoroughly enjoyed herself here. Alice was next. Fluffy had liked them on the first day, but didn't know much about them. Oh did that change today. Alice stole her heart. The theme was kind of like a nightclub with blacklights and a DJ. She thought this was SO cool. She could fully understand why Alice was so popular with Sam the butcher. The last party of the day was at the Carol house. Carol was Fluffy's favorite after day 1. Today though, things changed. Carol seemed very pretentious today. Sure, the Carols were pretty and perky, but that "Wessonality" didn't shine through today. She didn't think she would fit in well here. At the end of the day, Fluffy ranked like this: Alice Cindy Carol Marcia |
Rooting for Carol, not just because that I actually met her yesterday.....LOL......

Hah-wessonality! Good one and love your theme!

It sounds like she wanted to tell Marcia "something suddenly came up."

Fluffy called yesterday in a panic. The PNMs were told to pick up their invitations in 2 groups - an early group and a later one. Fluffy was assigned to the later group. Everyone Fluffy knew was invited to the early one, and she was convinced that the early session was for the girls that were wanted and the late session was for leftovers. I was so glad she called, since this was NOT something to worry about!
Fluffy was very nervous. She could receive 2 invitations, but she was worried she would only have 1. I talked her down - it only takes 1, blah blah blah. I made her promise that she would attend whatever party/parties to which she was invited, and make no decisions until afterwards. She sent me a picture. Her dress was on the casual side, but she looked very cute and happy. An hour later I got a text from Fluffy. It read Cindy and Marcia. Her beloved Alice had dropped her. I hoped she was ok with that. I wished that I could have talked to her to say, who wants to be an Alice anyway? Who wants to be middle-aged and working for a family whose Mom doesn't have any responsibilities? Who wants to secretly date a butcher and wear a blue maid dress every single day???? Fluffy called very late that night to tell me she was finished with recruitment. She had attended both pref parties and was exhausted. First and foremost, I wanted to know if she had ranked both chapters. If so, I knew she almost certainly would get a bid. I couldn't get that out of her. She went to Marcia first. She said she liked them better this night than she had the previous 2 parties. They were very nice to her and she felt wanted. They weren't anything like that Jerry Rogers from Fairview High who was only using her to steal Greg's football playbook. No, these girls were genuine and sweet. They sang some pretty songs which reminded her of the Silver Platters. Then she had a fancy dessert. She said there was a bit of awkwardness because at one point everyone was crying - the other PNMs, the Marcias - but not her. Fluffy isn't a crier. She didn't know what to do while everyone else was crying. She hoped they weren't offended. Next Fluffy went to Cindy. She said that if she ends up a Cindy it would be a God thing since her closest friend just pledged Cindy at another school. Her party at the Cindy house reminded her of her siblings. The Cindys sang songs, which reminded her of Johnny Bravo, except less groovy and more sappy. Then, her rusher read her a letter. It reminded her of when another Cindy wrote a letter to Joe Namath saying that Bobby was dying and his last wish was to meet him. Would Fluffy's wish come true like Bobby's did? Would she become a Cindy? Would she play catch on the astro turf yard with Joe Namath? Fluffy got on the bus back to the ranking site. She was back and forth considering who to choose. It was tough. She remembered when Greg had to choose the head cheerleader. Decisions like this are so complicated! Fluffy enjoyed both parties and decided that even though she wanted Cindy more than Marcia, she would be open to either one. She completed her ranking: Cindy Marcia Now she just needed to wait until tomorrow night to find out what she would be... BTW, Fluffy's roommate preffed Alice and Carol, and is hoping for Alice. |
Awesome theme. Hoping for Cindy!

Oh so funny! I love the Wessonality. Reminds me of a sister who just had a grandson. They named him Wesson! All I could think is you named your kid after Wesson Oil?!
