I would like to point out that this is more then just a symbolic gesture, which is how I read a couple of comments about it. There is a difference between people in support positions being exposed to combat and intentionally sending people into combat.

I saw this article and immediately thought of this thread. It's all about how easy it is for a woman to carry a man, and uses very little upper body strength. Makes perfect sense, yet it's not exactly common sense.
