OR doesn't have any experience with Junior League here. She is way too young to be sponsored.
33girl, are you speaking from an experience of being rejected from Junior League, or just repeating what you have heard? If you are just repeating what you have heard, then you are just perpetuating Junior League Tent Talk.
Chill folks -- I used Junior League as an example, as I noted, of a group and opportunity to bond with and form friendships with women beyond college. I'm not suggesting that everyone rush out to locate sponsors. Though I doubt that Junior Leagues everywhere are as snobby as reputed to be or as depicted in movies ( sound familiar?) -- but I can only respond from my own experience.

From a close personal friend's experience after she was already a member of Junior League in one city in the north, when she moved back south, she was not made to feel welcome. Yeah, it depends on the JL.

I've heard of the same happening when a girl transfers from one campus to another and tries to affiliate with her GLO.
I guess it depends on the GLO.

No one ever said it didn't, but you are trying to claim JL isn't competitive and exclusive (at least in some chapters.)

No, I never made any such claim. I never claimed anything outside of my personal experience.
Did you?
Are there disappointed forum members here who have been turned away from JL?
misscherrypie received an invite from JL. I'm sure there are others.
ETA: Yep, in fact there is even a thread entitled " AOIIs and The Junior League."
I think you may be perpetuating negative stereotypes about an organization with which you have no experience.
Sound familiar? It kinda jumps up and down on my irony button.

I think you must have learned the word irony from Alanis Morissette because I don't think you know what it means. Thanks for bringing up a completely unrelated thread. OMG. There are AOIIs that are Junior Leaguers. Who'd have thought? Where did I say there was anything wrong with the JL? You have a little something wrong with reading comprehension or else get overwhelmingly defensive when someone says anything remotely negative about JL. No, I have never tried to join the JL. Relaying my sister's experience isn't spreading negative propaganda, it is illustrating the point that JL is not always completely open to everyone. My sister loved JL when she was in Seattle. Not so much when she moved home. I know exact details including chapters, and I didn't have to experience it myself to know it's true. She's not some cousin of some friend's roommate. Regardless, your fall back defense that sorority chapters don't always accept sisters that transfer is unrelated and a distraction from the original topic. We are discussing whether or not the OP would be turned down. Whether or not a chapter of a sorority would refuse her if she transferred is moot since she has not been given a bid in the first place.
As an aside, you might notice that you get an overwhelmingly negative reaction on GC. It's because of your persistent aggressive manner. When you respond, try to take a deep breath and realize people are not attacking you and everything you hold dear before responding. Every post you make sounds like a mean attempt to put someone in their place. Definitely not a way to make friends or influence people.

Oh and incidentally for the oh so charming poster who quotes me like it's your job, I didn't say that joining the nontrad students group would be a substitute for being in a sorority.

Oh my Jesus, yes, regarding the competitiveness of ANY organization.
If there's a job quoting you, I would like to apply. Vastly more interesting than my current employment.

Don't understand what it is about Hart + damn near everyone else here on GC, but my God, how exhausting it must be to be offended by EVERYTHING one reads on the internet and to have the compulsion to aggressively DEFEND everything that hurts one's feelings.
All that being said, we were due for this. Love y'all!

Duh. I'm still in school. That doesn't mean that I don't have many generations of Junior League members on both sides of my family and haven't experienced their process and programs and the fallout of not becoming a member in several different cities in the US. Because remember, I'm an entitled brat who thinks she is better than everyone.

Oh yes, I'm sure they all came over on the Mayflower and ran aground on Old Row.
