Wow! That song really told the story of 1967-'68 with the "summer of love" and the whole peace/brotherhood movement. John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas wrote that song but decided it was wrong for his group, so he gave it to Scott McKenzie.

It is a beautiful, sweet, gentle song. Those of us old enough to remember will always smile and sigh a little. RIP Scott McKenzie. Your ballad helped define a generation and spurred social, military, and political change.
