Informal recruitment, no response

I think it's strange that a sorority would call you if you didn't get a bid---at least right away. Say a chapter has 10 spots to fill, and multiple chapters are participating. That chapter can offer bids to the 10 women they want most, but usually during informal recruitment, you give a woman some time to accept or decline it (amount varies by chapter), whether she is waiting to see if she gets other bids, trying to decide between 2 or more, needs to talk to her parents, etc. You can only have 10 bids "out" at any given time. #11 might not get a call right away, but she's next if one of the first 10 decide to decline a chapter's bid. However, if a chapter has filled all of its available spots, there's no reason why they couldn't call PNMs to let them know that the new member class is complete. Whether they should or need to call is a different matter. I personally don't think it's necessary, but it's weird that they told you you'd get a call either way, and then you didn't.

I wonder if there was some sort of requirement in order to receive a bid via informal recruitment, i.e. registering with the Greek Life office. Maybe you slipped through the cracks (bid-wise and call-wise) because you hadn't registered? Though, I would think the chapter would have you sign in and give some contact information upon arriving at the event. If the chapter wanted to give you a bid but needed your transcript, they would probably ask you for it.

I would suggest asking the Greek Life Office for the answers to these logistical questions, because they seem campus-specific.
