Look I'm going to go ahead and say this because I've been thinking it for awhile:

Sammy, if this actually happened to you or your friend I'm sorry. Maybe I'm being naive, but I can completely see this occurring if someone whose social skills were not their strongest suit trying to rush a group with some not so kind members. I can see that happening, sadly. But the fact is that they have this capability to be this unkind, there is no reason for you to want to join their organization. Clearly it won't bring you the kind of friends that you need. I would suggest some professional counseling and I don't mean that as an insult, I go to one myself. They can be very helpful at listening to you and helping you deal with some of the issues present, both surface level and underlying. After that maybe try joining another group, one with an open membership policy, to make some friends.

Being in a Greek organization does not automatically make your friends for life, the seeds of friendship need to be there first. Therefore you may have better luck in an environment where friendship can evolve naturally and over time, not in the pressure cooker of rush. I'm sorry things did not turn out the way that you'd hoped, but trying to bully your way into a private social group won't work. Period. My advice is try to pick up the pieces try to grow from the experience. Bad things happen but we can't let them define us, we can only choose our actions wisely to make us better people in the end.
