The actual recruiting events are the next two nights.
Yes, it kind of takes away a long weekend, but we do go back to school just the week before. I hope that doesn't sway anyone to not participate!!
I'm getting very excited with each new detail that comes out!

I'm starting to get a little nervous I'm going to miss something. There is NO information that I can find on the internet (even on facebook) about spring recruitment. Thank goodness this site exists!
So the information session is on Sunday, January 15th, in the Reitz, at 6 PM? And if I just show up then they will tell me all I need to know about registration and when actual recruitment will occur? And will I walk around (table to table) talking to the specific sororities right after the info session?
Sorry if I seem super slow, I DID read all the information above, I just want to make sure I don't miss recruitment or show up unprepared!

GatorPNM, I don't think you're slow. When I read the stuff I thought it seemed too vague. Show up at the advertised event on the 15th, dressed to be seen and prepared to talk. And be ready to roll with what's thrown at you. I have a feeling you'll go there and they'll explain it all to you then, and then the "real" rush events will be the next 2 nights. I can't help but feel like they're going to sell you a time share or something. Otherwise, why would it all be such a secret? I'm sure they're not actually trying to keep secrets, but ...
Once you've joined a sorority (fingers crossed!), you can work toward becoming your Panhellenic rep (I think a wildly unappreciated role) and make things better for future girls in your shoes.

Yeah, the vague is because they keep changing it on us, too. The Sunday info session is Jan 15 at 6pm. Its info & the first day of recruiting (if I understand it correctly). So, be prepared to meet PC ladies! The next evening (around the same time) will be recruitment at the individual houses! Which is new this year! Also, you must visit all the houses participating in Spring Recruitment this year, too. There is now nothing on Tuesday. Although, I wish it was over three days - just a bit less stressful!
I'm sorry there's not much information! That's why I keep trying to get the info out! Sorry it changed on you!
Just be prepared to possibly meet women on Sunday & (*MOST IMPORTANTLY*) be yourself & have fun!!!
Good luck!!
I'm here for questions!

Hahah, love the timeshare thing! And thanks for the clarification, guys!
Thank you so much UFgatorlove! I seriously would not know anything about spring recruitment without you.
Also, I've seen some rumors on greek rank and stuff about more sororities participating than usual this year because total (or quota??) was increased after fall rush. I think this totally makes sense because so many freshman are being accepted in spring now. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

Yes, that part is, apparently, true. The number of chapters participating is changing. Its a mixture of some deciding not to participate since last year, and some new ones to the game. I don't have the exact number, but I believe it may increase from years past (no for-sure information comes out until the info session on that).
Also, stay away from sites like that! Anonymous people will say things that no one ever should. Its dirty recruiting at its best, and just disgusting in general. Nothing on sites like that can ever be noted as true - at least what they say about chapters.
I believe most users on this site will tell you the same thing. I know its frustrating that you can't find any information anywhere, but those places are the very worst corner of the internet to turn to for good information or advise. (Sorry to sound like a mom!)
Hope that helps!

No, I totally know! It was just one of the websites that popped up when I searched "Spring rush" and people were discussing it on there. But I know that site is absolutely ridiculous and would never judge a sorority by anything said on there!

You made me smile! I'm glad you have a good head on your shoulders!!
Again, I'm still here if you need to ask any questions!
Hope you [all] are having a good break & don't stress over Spring Recruitment!
Just be you!

I have not heard a set dress suggestion. It could be cold, so if you go in jeans and a top, I don't think its a bad idea. You never know how cold it will be when you leave. You can also always toss a dress in your bag and change if you get there and want to be more dressy!
I'd say anything you'd wear in Round 1 or 2 according to the Panhellenic website:
http://info.theginsystem.com/website...ion=view&id=49
Its not anything like Fall Recruitment, its much less 'formal.'

I have never heard of letters of rec hurting your chances, so no reason not to get them if you can. They are far more important during formal recruitment than this. I honestly have never heard of a PNM bringing letters with her, so I would mail them to the house they are intended for before the Sunday info session if you chose to utilize them. I would not stress over securing them if you haven't already, especially because the chapters participating will not be announced until the info session. If you have them already, send them in, can't hurt!

if you know sorority members who can and will write a recommendation letter for you, do it. They(not you) should send it to the sorority house address or better yet, email the completed form to the chapter.
