We've had two hate crimes within two days here, about a week and a half ago now.
Link goes to one of them. On the plus side, yay for the sheriff taking it seriously and not waiting until it escalated until something as tragic as this. The other was a jail fight that they hadn't decided to charge as a hate crime or not yet.
But then we've had a double homicide - stabbing/shooting/domestic battery etc., a single homicide with multiple wounded and gods know how many random shootings this summer. Things just feel like they're not going well, and increased gang activity doesn't account for all of it.
