Jump headfirst into it. There really is minimal preparation to be done (unless you're a little too overprepared for your own good and arrange recs for sororities as I did over the summer before I rushed). It's called Rush for a reason - it's strenuous and will force you to jump out of your comfort zone and right into a very integral part of college life for anywhere between 10-30% of your campus.
if you have any questions on specifics, however, I'm a PC (that's pledge class) '10, meaning I'm the most recent one, and an upcoming sophomore at an SEC school where Greek life is relatively big (we have a presence, I'd say).
Best of luck to you!

WTH? Try not to discourage people from getting recs, especially since you haven't experienced recruitment from the sorority side yet. You don't know what little thing may be the make or break it element for a PNM, especially at a competitive school.

At many colleges recommendations are needed to insure a successful NPC recruitment, and it would be extremely rare on those campuses to be successful without them. That requires preplanning on the part of the pnm.

Trust me, Gatorbaby. You were not over prepared for U. of F. rush by having secured recs. That is the status quo there and being a ZTA alum, I can promise you that you did not receive a bid unless you had a rec. You may not have realized that someone sent in a rec. for you, but it was there.

OP, as someone else said, check out the college panhellenic website at your university, and if possible ask questions of girls you know who go there.

Mixer, who the hell are you? What are your qualifications to give advice? You do not decide ahead of time to concentrate on one NPC sorority, unless you want to ruin your chances to receive a bid. For NPC recruitment, it is best to keep an open mind, as much as you can.
