You need a lawyer. Everyone going through it needs a lawyer from the start. Family petitions are the hardest because the visa paperwork and associated fees fall solely on the petitioner. This is the part that burns me...there is no reason why the system should be so complicated that a person of average intelligence should NEED a lawyer to make it through it.

It can be just as headache inducing for the people on the other side of the desk as it is for you. It's part of the reason why I want a career change and I don't even work for USCIS.
