I'm just trying to figure out how being anti-assault is non-conformist these days.
No idea about the relationship here but this is not the first incident of private security/private individuals at rallies or other public events over stepping what they should be doing and making it physical. Even if people who are not fans of the candidate go looking for a fight or drama it doesn't make for good PR when people are physically assaulted and it is documented. Same thing happened in Alaska with a candidate and a news blogger at a public school and private security of the candidate. Last I read charges are not being filed but I don't think it helps any movement or candidate appear legitimate when their followers and supporters cross the line. Yes it is an individual making a choice to be physical with another, but if the candidate doesn't speak out against it that isn't a good sign to me. In this case Profitt (the guy who put his foot on her head because of a bad back) is no longer working on the campaign, which is probably a good move for the candidate.

I do find it somewhat savvy/a boon to those who have an agenda to discredit that a young smaller woman was the person who had hands laid on her, and it could have been very different if a man had been in the same situation. I'm not saying that it was planned for someone to be attacked but the way it is being spun is no surprise. Conway, the other candidate is now using this as a woman's issue and as much as I dislike women being seen as people who are delicate and need protection other people get on board with it and that's ridiculous to make it about gender and not about someone who is allegedly a perpetrator of assault.

This story made me when he thinks he should get an apology from the woman he put his foot on. I am kind of confused but the whole situation is rife with crazy http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...MPLATE=DEFAULT

Her and I DID have a close GC relationship. Not so much anymore, but it doesn't have anything to do with this specific situation. That's why I feel I am able to make a good comparison between Drolefille now and 3 years ago. People change to some extent, but usually not to this extreme.
You got a fuck off directed at you because you said the victim deserved it. Considering the other 'blame the victim' thread we have going atm, it seemed apropos.

Drolefille's never been a stereotypical southern sorority queen, but lately the contrainess (I don't think that's actually a word, but whatever) to social norms has hit new levels.
It seems like you can't decide if this is because I'm bitchy, trying to pretend I don't care about anyone, upset about my ex, or because I'm wearing white after Labor Day.

Just to set your oh-so-concerned mind at ease, I expressed that prohibition on wearing white after Labor Day didn't make sense to me and that I didn't see how it was 'common sense.' I did not suggest that everyone run around without pants. As for my bucking the social norms in general, nothing's changed. Since you're so curious, I almost never wear makeup, prefer pants to skirts and would rather be in jeans and a T-shirt than work attire. (OMG SHOCKING) I wear a bra, I don't drink alcohol, I support people's right to love, sleep with or marry any consenting adult they like. I do not support people who blame victims, make sexist or racist remarks as a matter of course, or who try and fail to put my personal business out on the internet.

In addition, I haven't been upset about my exboyfriend for quite some time now. I'm quite content with my romantic life, thank you so much for your concern.

If you just want to call me out for being a bitch, fine, do it. But don't pretend you did this for me, or because you think I needed a wake up call. If you can't be bothered to get the basic facts about my life together before you post about it then you should probably shut up and close the window. And brush up on your 'psych background' before you try to analyze the next target of your affections.

I agree with you that this in particular is not a gender issue (fits into statistics maybe, but that's not the main point here) and should be addressed as an assault first and foremost. The perp here thinking he should get an apology? Ridiculous and I hope he is charged.
