I know I can't make it. I have an exchange student from Germany coming to live with me. She's arriving tomorrow evening. I'm not gonna drag her to Ttown, since she's unlikely to understand the significance. Besides, she's gotta start school on Monday and will probably be jet lagged.

Mikewoz, encourage her to stick with it through preference at least (if she gets there)! if the next 2 rounds doesn't change her mind, then she doesn't have to sign a bid card. but she may find herself surprised if she goes through both preference parties! besides, she's very lucky to have 2 places to go... I'm sure there are many girls who have one or none!

No kidding!
My daughter got 3 invites back for skit day - two were on her "really like" list and one of those was her top favorite. The third invite was a sorority she was going to drop, but since she got cut from 5 (yikes!) she decided to go to their skit day anyway.
It has been eerily silent today!
I did some thinking in the grocery store this morning and realized that while this week is changing her life, it has definitely changed me. I now am confident that I want her to find not the "best" sorority at Bama, but the best sorority for HER at Bama. I want her to be exceedingly happy in her choice.
I have to admit I am a little concerned about deep cuts after this round. She may end up with NO sorority! That is a possibility. We will see and I will keep all informed.
Glad to hear some of the other girls are doing well in this process! Can't wait to hear where they actually go! All this mystery speak is getting old!

good attitude mom. thats what i told mine. the important thing is where she feels comfortable. definitely go to all the skits especially since she was changing her "favorites" everyday.

Like they're saying over on the Auburn thread, you have wipe the slate clean and look at your remaining sororites with fresh eyes.

I think my favorite Bama PNM is realizing she might not know as much about the world as she thought!!!!! I hope regardless of how it turns out--and I do hope she can pledge her one--it's a learning experience about how you can't go back and change things (grades, friendships, effort, researching, etc.). Can't wait to hear how it goes for everyone.

If you aren't invited back to a sorority, it is most likely NOT because they rejected you. It is almost always because they are limited to how many they can invite and there were others ahead of you. And, if you really clicked with someone, it is likely that they are disappointed that you aren't back.

My daughter went through recruitment at Bama 2 years ago (loves her sorority). She is "on the other side" for the second time. I'll have to say it's much easier on this side waiting to hear how the week is going! Quick question, we have a hometown girl going through recruitment at Bama that could only attend ice water parties & philanthropy days. Then had to leave. She went to some interviews (?) with execs from all of the sororities at the first of the week. This I didn't really understand... Anyway, does anyone know about this and what it's called? & how will she "finish out" the week? AND---Good luck to all the girls and parents! Relax and stay positive!

Wow, I have never heard of that before. I have, however, heard of an instance of a girl needing to miss round one at an SEC school (due to illness). She had plenty of invites to round two, and I'm assuming the invites were based on glowing recs. She finished recruitment normally. But I don't know how it would work if she had to miss the last two days instead of the first two days!

I will. I'm very intrigued as well! (Btw, she has over a 4.0 weighted and a fabulous resume. Awesome girl. Great with conversation, etc.) Just wondering how she will do her "picks" after skit and pref. Totally understand this may be a very rare case....

Has anyone heard what quota is this year? Also, anyone who knows how they figure quota and is willing to share - I'm listening!
Should be a quiet day today - no cell phones are allowed. We'll be in Tuscaloosa tonight!
Good luck to ALL!!
