I agree. For me, I believe that it's important to start off as friends in non-romantic ways. If or when it's taken to a level of courtship, technically you are still friends. Best friends. That friendship has to always be there, otherwise it's not going to work out. But, yeah, I'm with you. "Boyfriend" and "girlfriend" titles are for grade school and highschool. It's silly watching grown men and women using them (To me it is).
I think every guy I've dated has preferred the term "boyfriend" because when I leave it out or refer to them as my friend they automatically assume I'm trying to pull a fast one and pretend I'm single. I feel awkward using it, but I figure I'm not the only one around who does, so whatever. (I also dislike publicizing my dating life...stupid facebook.) So I do still use it sometimes, but I totally agree with you that it's silly.
