Whether flowers are carried over the arm or in front of you depends on the bouquet shape and the type of flower. The tulips in the photo above are a "presentation bouquet" - you often see calla lillies held in the same way. However, it would not look right to hold a round bouquet, which is hand-tied and wired, and has shorter stems, in the same way.

For my October wedding, I'm going with fall colors - deep reds, fiery orange, gold and plum. My bridesmaid dresses are "Scarlet."

I agree. When I think of a bouquet, I tend to think of the presentation (or what I've heard called a Spray) - mostly roses - of flowers.

I was at a store today, and saw some beautiful Gerbera Daisies. Yes, they look lovely in a short stemmed, ribbon tied bouquet, and they'd look stupid carried over the arm, as there's no "drape" to them. Same with some other flowers. But roses or any other normally long stemmed flowers look so much more elegant when cradled in the arm.

For an example, here are two bouquets, in basically the same colors:

Don't you think that the top one looks more elegant?
