Right? I guess I should just wait on that letter from my org saying how disappointed they are in me, and how I make them all look bad. Sorry Jill

Some, yes, but not all, for sure. We do eat quite a bit of the cost. Which is why my system has had (essentially) a hiring freeze, cut retirement matching, has had no raises in 3 years (of any kind.. cost of living, merit, promotions), no bonuses in as long, and we pay more and more for our health insurance too. We have been providing more care than we are getting paid for and our net loss is growing as more and more people are unemployed.

Thanks for the correction.
But wait. Are you suggesting that health care and the uninsured actually may have an effect on the broader economy?!

Well my goodness.. imagine that thought?? Like, we could build more clinics and hospitals and buy more high tech equipment if we weren't losing all this money! And us employees would make more money so I could get that living room carpet I need? There could be construction jobs and durable medical equipment jobs and people might start going out to eat again.
It could happen
