I waited my year, got to know girls in my first choice sorority, went through rush again (as a sophomore) and got a bid to my first choice and am as happy as I can be. When I went back through rush and went to parties at the sorority I dropped I really don't think they even remembered me (luckily). They were nice to me and even invited me back to philanthropy round but I dropped them then. I can't speak about rush at UVA -- I think it is much more competitive then here at Tech -- but I am very glad I followed my heart and did what was right for me.
what was different with your recruitment this time around, i.e., did you have recs. vs. no recs. the first time, did you get involved in other orgs. on campus, did your gpa improve, had you made a lot of friends in your #1 choice, such good friends that you hung out with #1 a lot? what do you think turned the tide in your favor the 2nd time around?

The fact that it happened in the Imaginarium.

All I did was get to know girls I met through recruitment from my first choice sorority -- the one that I originally did not get a bid from. We became friends and the next year I went through I got a bid. I did not improve my grades, they have always been decent and I have never gotten recs -- they just aren't important at Tech and very few girls get them. I am involved with a few other groups on campus but it is nothing spectacular. I simply got to know people. And obviously no one held it against me that I dropped out the year before from the group I didn't feel totally at home with. Maybe my situation is totally a fluke but I am example that it is not impossible. And I hate that we are stuck here for another weekend in the snow!!
Coolio! And what Sorority has the pleasure of you as a member?

Many of us have a very hard time believeing that she could have a real clue whether or not she feels totally at home barely a day after getting her bid.

That's not actually what we're telling her. That's great that things worked out for you, though.
