I was thinking the same thing. It's amazing how different parts of the country vary. GC is such an education.

Since DGs Presents was the last of the day (with Kappa) we got to see all the houses and the girls. TriDelta's pictures do not do it justice. It is THAT beautiful. DGs walk down their staircase.

Football Fan,

Thanks so much for posting the Tri Delta pictures. I can imagine how lovely it is in person.

What a beautiful and fun tradition! I had never heard of such a thing until I read this thread. Is this mainly a west coast tradition? I am from a larger, southern chapter, and I have never heard of anyone doing this. I am so envious, and wish my campus did this.

Yes, it's mainly a west coast thing. I've only heard of it being done at CA schools.

I guess they do it at UCSD, too. One of my chapter sisters transferred there and said something about it on her Facebook. She better post pictures!

Wow! Beautiful pictures. Love the tradition. I think Texas Tech has presentations and I know our chapter at Texas A&M has a presentation for parents and friends but nothing so elegant. Back in the day, the 1960's, when I pledged, we had a beautiful presentation dance sponsored by Panhellenic. All the chapters presented their pledges who were escorted by fraternity members. Not for sure if it is still going on.

It is a beautiful tradition.

We had something along the same lines at the University of Maryland called Pledge Debut. All the sororities (18 of them) had one night when the pledges were presented. This usually happened at the chapter house. The celebration was then at a large hotel with all of the sorority members, pledges and their dates.

Each sorority had its own way of presenting pledges. At Kappa Delta, the pledges wore full length white gowns and held one white rose. We came down a swooping staircase one at a time and were announced. It was such an amazing experience!

I'll post a photo if I can find one not too embarrassing.

UCSD Presents are semi-formals, not beautiful garden parties, unfortunately. SDSU Presents, IIRC, are exchanges with fraternities (like what they refer to as Presents on Greek )

Presents was determined to be hazing by some of our higher up advisors a few years ago. So the name was changed.

We do have a New Member exam, which isn't hazing. But any kind of testing outside of the national exam is hazing.

Our SDSU chapter held a Presents brunch for parents at the House of Hospitality in Balboa Park this fall, to commemorate the chapter's 60th anniversary. Before San Diego State had houses on Montezuma Mesa, the chapter met for meetings at Balboa Park!

How cool. I grew up in SD and went to Balboa all the time with my dad.
