LOL I don't know which to choose because I have BOTH at my house!

We have a 92 BMW 325i...and I like driving it, it's got really good handling.

My mom *won* a 2009 Mustang GT Premium Coupe last year. It has a 45th anniversary emblem on it. Very nice car! I haven't really driven it yet...my mom is very possessive over it, but I love riding in it! The back seat is small, so there's not much room to put 2 people back there. This is the car the day we brought it home from the dealership!

I would go with Beamer. I'm assuming we're comparring their respective flag-ship models for the current model year

ETA: Although my all-time dream car is the Porsche 911 GT2

hmmm.
I am a Ford girl at heart, my very first car was an Escort.

However, I am obessed with the 3 and 5 series BMWs. I love the look, the feel and the handling of BMWs.

That's a great story!

My sister has a similar story about an accident she was in while driving a Mercedes. The car was a loss, but she walked away. The officer at the crash site said that if it had been any other car (it was an S-body) that it wouldn't have been so good.

I am partial towards German vehicles, but not necessarily because of that story. I have a little MB teddy bear at my desk.

I have had both. I had a mustang in college and loved it but it only made it to 108,000 miles, not sure I would purchase another. I currently drive a bimmer and I like my car but damn I have spent so much $$ on it in the last 2 years. I have replaced almost eveything except the engine on that car. If you buy one make sure you have the money to fix it (no more warranty on mine, and they are not cheap to fix) Personally I like the new camaros.

I am planning on keeping my car for another 5 years if it holds up then likely purchase another one (I like the new hard top convertibles)

This is not the first time I've heard this type of loyalty to BMW for the same reason.

Glad you survived.

I've told this story before on the site, but my wife and I were hit by a drunk driver in April 2007 (he was drunk enough that he passed out at the wheel after the accident). He was driving a big station wagon, and we were in a 2006 BMW sedan. He came across the center line and hit us head on...it's estimated he was driving 70-75 mph when he hit us. Pretty scary stuff.

When the insurance people saw our vehicle, and read the police report, they figured that we had died in the accident. We got many comments from people who saw the vehicle along the lines of "You're lucky to be alive."

At the end of the day, we ended up with a few broken bones and other relatively minor injuries. The way the airbags and safety systems worked in that car...they saved our lives. The car essentially created a cushion around us, shielding us (as much as possible) from the impact. The car took a beating, but we're still around to tell the story.

I'm sure there are other vehicles that would have done the same thing. However, my wife and I will always be loyal BMW customers because of what happened that day.

Mustangs: Looking at a Shelby GT500 Supersnake (late 2000s model but not the 2010)

BMW: M3 or 330CI (Late 2000s model)

At one time, BMW was my all time favorite car from childhood all the way up until Chris Bangle became head of design at BMW. (Art Center artists ) Once he took over, the styling went downhill from there. They look a little better now, but they're still not as nice looking as the BMWs from the 80s thru the 90s. I do like the fact that for the 1st time in BMW history the new M3s now have V-8s. Overall though, for me, it would depend on the BMW or Mustang. The 2010 Mustang is a great looking car, much better looking than the previous one. I'm a Shelby and Saleen fan, so I would have to go with the Mustang. BMW does have the M series, Hartge, AC Schnitzer, Alpina, and Dinan, but they still don't compare to Shelby and Saleen (when it comes to appearance). Ford also has Roush, but I don't really like the Roush Mustangs as much. The only BMWs I would love to have over any Mustang or any other BMW would be an M1, a Z8, or a 1957 507, which BMW no longer produces. Since those are the only three BMWs where I can really appreciate the styling, then Mustang wins. The best Fords are Ford Europe.

ETA: And Mustangs sound so much better than BMWs.

2010 Saleen Mustang. eta: this is actually a 2009, but the 2010 looks similar.
