For some reason, this reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by one of the greatest English wits, the conductor Sir Thomas Beecham. Sir Thomas reportedly was quite dissatisfied with the performance of a female cellist and remonstrated her thus:
“Madam, you have between your legs an instrument capable of giving pleasure to thousands - and all you can do is scratch it”
