Skipping one Wednesday night lecture for rush doesn't mean greek life outranks academics for you. If just means that it outranks this one lecture for you.
:-) my point exactly.
i'm still not happy about missing class...but that's why I decided to compromise.
It is sad that our school doesn't offer accommodation, but with a rush that is already nearly 2 weeks long just to fit everything in, I understand how that would be hard.

I think you're being very wise and mature about this situation. As a pretty recent alum, I remember situations like this where during our selection process we were told "so and so had class, etc. and couldn't return for philanthropy night" but we still had to vote on them...and honestly, when you meet so many people and you don't remember who is who and you have to cut someone, sometimes its the girl you just didn't see around that night, even if it wasn't her fault.

That said, you pay for school and it's important...but school is for four years, and your sorority is for life. I 100% promise that missing one class your freshman year isn't going to matter on graduation day. But when you're standing in your caps and gowns surrounded by sisters, that will matter.

Anyway. That's just my two cents.
