@ The neighbor holding a neighborhood press conference. LOL. I swear we wouldn't know who she is, how she looks, or really give a darn if she would shut up. Her husband was standing with her holding her in support while she was crying. LOL. Add that to her hiring a lawyer and she's a complete idiot to me.
People are so ridiculous.

I feel bad for her. Her name was available on the police report along with her home address. She said people had been making threats and treating her poorly. I don't think she would have come forward if she didn't have legitimate claims.
However, I must admit if I was going to throw a press conference, I would put on some neutral makeup and look a little more presentable. She looked like she was just going out to water plants!

I didn't know the name and address were released. Her visibility makes more sense now.

Hmm, seems like this cop is an idiot:

BOSTON (AFP) – Boston police said they had suspended an officer for a racist email likely to renew tensions over the recent arrest of black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.

The email describes Gates, who was arrested and briefly detained earlier this month at Harvard, near Boston, as a "banana-eating jungle monkey," according to a copy published by news site MyFoxBoston.com.
|
Quote:
|
"I am not a racist, but I am prejudice towards people who are stupid," reads the alleged diatribe -- containing frequent grammatical and spelling errors -- against Gates and local newspaper the Boston Globe.

Yes I'm sure you have black friends

ETA: I'm sorry, I found this story hilarious: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...l?hpid=topnews . I am, however, disappointed in our President's choice of beers. He really could have made a statement by choosing to drink something from the Rogue or Dogfish Head breweries.

I know! Bud Lite! I wonder if it's that he's just not a beer drinker and went with the only beer that he knew, or if that was his way of trying to make himself look like he's not that out of touch with America.
Either way, he could do better!

There was the picture going around showing him drinking a beer at a sporting event, so I'd assume he enjoys a cold one every once in a while. Even if he doesn't like dark/hoppy beer, he could have enjoyed a Hefeweizen, or something along those lines.
I think I should apply to be his Special Advisor on Choice of Alcoholic Beverages (or SACAB for short). Since I'm a Republican, he can even tout it as an effort towards bipartisan cooperation.

Who cares what kind of beer Obama is going to drink? If he wants to drink BL, then let him drink BL.

I'm with your on the beer disappointment. If Obama's just going to have a BL, why not just have a glass of water?
This whole situation has just turned for the worse now, and is seriously getting ridiculous. The neighbor is getting threats because she called the cops, because it looked like someone was breaking in to the house? LAME! If it looked like someone was breaking in to my house, I hope to God that my neighbors would call the police.

About that cop that sent the 'jungle-monkey' email ...

Please move away from him, because he is surely going to be struck by lightning!
If I knew how to put the link in my message, I would. (I just may have to figure it out)
Okay ...I'm done.

Now, all he needs to say is "some of my best friends are Black."
tangent/
People say all sorts of things when they are talking to family and friends/acquaintances. No big deal. He should've kept his comments out of the context of police officer + email correspondence. Same with Obama keeping his opinions out of the context of POTUS + reporters.
What bothers me is the influx of these unimportant things in the media. I think certain things should be under-known or at least be relegated to TMZ and Inside Edition. I don't need to see it on CNN, etc. If they insist on reporting it, it should be a news snippet. There HAS to be a hierarchy of "news" as to not make America even dumbererer than it is.

I actually agree with this logic. I love this country and all the freedoms that we are guaranteed, but I have serious problems with the freedom of the press. I agree that the press should have the right to be free in what they choose to report. But they also I feel have a responsibility to make sure what is reported is something that is just cold hard fact, and of import or at least relevant to the average joe. I feel that the press has strayed from that responsibility.

Bud Light definitely isn't the cheapest beer available; it would have been funny to see him sipping a Genny Cream Ale or Beast, though, haha.

I fully understand why he should/ should not have given his opinion. As president he is expected to be 'the voice and face of America' and probably shouldnt go speaking his mind all the time. While others may say that they value a man in office who doesnt keep you guessing about how he feels. As a person and as president I think Obama is way more open than he should be. Its not a bad thing, but it does allow people more opportunity to pick at stuff. If he's asked a question he'll answer it "honestly" whether most people wouldnt have or think he shouldnt or not. That is one approach. My point is that he's not out of line to speak his mind. Its probably not best, but its not wrong. Also he should have addressedd the overarching issue of racial profiling only and not this particular situation.

It'd be better if he said "I had a black roommate" or "I had black friends in Highschool". LOL
Why Dr. Phil do you mean to tell me that CNN should not cover Beyonce falling down the steps at her concert as the hot news item for the day all day?
There was reason to report the incident with Gates because he's gates, but making it this big is really whack. Ultimately Gates is not the poster child for profiling. Yellow journalism at its best.
