It is irrelevant. Getting a job is what counts.

madmax/Tired Black Man + "Black people aren't so bad posts" = a waste of a GC race war

Yeah, including my upper-middle class, majority white one.

I'm sorry, I haven't been paying attention to it.

You know, being so busy not taking care of my kids that madmax insists that I have.

It's just so hard with my 5th grade education. Sigh.

I doubt it. In the upper-middle class school districts the students are actually raised by their parents and the parents care about education. It is the low income districts that are trying to keep pace by doctoring the standardized test scores and pushing the kids through the system.

At the end of the day the kids from the upper class districts that are getting the jobs. That says it all.

Why do you think Obama gave the speech saying blacks need to do a better job on education?

I'm sick and tired of always walking on pins and needles around black people. Tired Black Man, I disagree with you, we are not all savages. I got mugged by a black man, and I don't think all black people are thieves. Why is it o.k. for Tired Black Man to speak his mind, but when a white man speaks his mind, all hell breaks loose? Black guys rape white women too. Don't act like it was just white guys who raped black women. I'm not even a fan of race mixing, so I agree with Tired Black Man there. Blacks should only be with blacks and whites with whites. I've never called blacks anything but African American or just plain black. If a black ever felt offended at anything I said I would hope that he or she would tell me. I've never used the N word or referred to a black as a monkey or anything like that, but yet I'm still put into a "savage" category. I'm sick of it. Tired Black Man, you're an idiot. Get a life.
You're funny. Your diatribe is tiring and completely unoriginal. lmao. This tired line of thinking is so prevalent that for all we know you simply copied and pasted it here. That's just how often this kind of thing is said.

I'm still puzzled as to why non blacks feel they are entitled to and should weigh in on whether certain words are or should be insulting to blacks.

I'm also puzzled as to why people on these message boards continue getting in to the same tired arguments with each other over race. Let's face it...there are a few things that are generally going to stay consistent:
1. whites are always going to gripe and complain about not being able to call us the "n" word even though some blacks use it as a slang term. for whatever reason they are really upset that they can't call us that word without facing repercussions. go figure.
2. whites are always going to feel that affirmative action is unfair and that it is reverse racism. no matter how many times people try to demonstrate the fact that AA is needed in the first place because of racism, whites will stubbornly refuse to acknowledge this. no matter how many times it is pointed out that blacks are not the only group to benefit from AA whites will refuse to acknowledge this. no matter how many times it is proven that because someone benefits from AA it does not mean they are under qualified, whites are going to refuse to acknowledge this. Give it up.
3. whites are going to continue to gripe that we get to celebrate black history month, completely ignoring the fact that every other month focuses on the accomplishments and historical milestones of whites and other non black races.
4. whites are going to continue to act as though blacks are overly sensitive about race relations.
5. blacks and whites are never going to see eye to eye on racial matters. in fact many whites are going to use Obama's presidency as "proof" that racism no longer exists. again, there's no need to argue. you aren't going to change their minds.

As controversial as my post may be, it needs to be said because there are over two hundred posts in this thread and most of them demonstrate what I am talking about. I used to think that one way of combating racism in society was dialogue between the races. Unfortunately I have learned that most whites in general are going to turn a deaf ear or try to turn things around to show" reverse" racism. To that end...there's just no point anymore.
