You asked for help and a lot of people helped you. They said the same things over and over again: Rules vary. It depends on the group. Check with your local. We can't tell you for sure. How can you say that we have not helped you?

Did you want us to tell you "OMG! YES! You SOOOOOO can join another sorority! Like, leave your local right now!!!"? Would that have made you feel better? You know what? We can't say that. We don't know you. We don't know your local.

That's too bad that you feel that we haven't helped you enough. Shame on us.

im not saying that you're not helping, but just asking over and over on here isnt going to get me anywhere...thats why i said that i will let u guys know once i finally get out of the sorority. i wasnt complaining at all. sorry if u took it that way.

Jennamarie,

GC is not the place to discuss your personal decisions about changing your sorority to another one.

This issue has been discussed ad nauseum. People kindly have giving the links to them. You need to read and re-read them.

I am sorry you made a choice and decided on a lifetime commitment to your said sorority. You have to live with your choices. That is life.

All I am telling you, do not select Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for your second choice... We do not need anyone like you making choices then regretting them...

im sorry that you feel like im not a valuable candidate, but understand here why i am choosing to leave.
i chose to pledge the sorority with hopes of having a bond with these women, however, as time has passed, i have come to learn how deceitful, and backstabbing my sisters can be. and honestly, i dont care how bad it looks that i am leaving, because i do not want to be associated with such people. sisters are constantly arguying with eachother, and it is not only apparent to me, as almost everyone on campus can tell. they care only about numbers rather than sisterhood, which is pretty sad. my mom was even in the hospital getting heart surgery....they couldnt have cared less....great way to show sisterhood and that they care

If it's bad, quit. You don't need us to make you feel good about your situation. It doesn't affect us, so do what you need to do.

You can encounter people like you describe anywhere in your travels in life. So, you are telling us that you cannot handle these women now, so you would like to join another group of women? And how do you know will not encounter the same thing?

Fact is something drew you to your original sorority... So, because they are insensitive to your needs is not strong enough of a reason to join another.

So your only choice is to leave. And all of this has been discussed ad nauseum, previously, before.

YOU CANNOT JOIN ANOTHER SORORITY, PERIOD!

How to leave, like someone previously said, read your constitution and bylaws, speak to your alumnae, write a letter and leave. Or don't write anything and not show up. Whatever. But, that is your choice you have to make.

Opinions on this subject are like assholes, everyone has one in GC Land...

doubtful. i''ll be the happiest person once i finally get out. even if i dont join any other sorority. trust me, if you were in it too, you would understand.

idk. this is a greek website...i thought i would find a better way of understanding the process on here. like the steps to terminating with your old sorority....etc. do i have to write a letter or what? like, they cant FORCE me to stay....but i know that its probably not something where i just say "Hi, I dont want to be in the sorority anymore. Bye", i would think....lol
