Depending on your particular institution, there may be Latin@ greek organizations that have many of the same social aspects of NPHC fraternities (stepping, strolling, elaborate probates, etc.). So you could very well have the social aspects that you want, and still preserve and celebrate your culture.

With that said, remember that the NPHC is HISTORICALLY Black Fraternities and Sororities. If you're attending an HBCU, then there may not be very many options for greeklife, and your organizations will hopefully be more accommodating. I attend Florida State (a PWI) and I had no trouble expressing interest, pledging, and participating as an active member of my NPHC fraternity without being black. Everyone is different, and it is certainly wise to research all of the available fraternities before you express an interest (NPHC, MGC, IFC, etc.).

Sorry for the long post, but these topics are fun to comment on.

I'm sure this wasn't your intention, but just to clarify: Joining a Latino/NALFO organization shouldn't be seen as a "fall back" plan or "the next best thing" if you don't get into an NPHC organization. An individual can celebrate his culture regardless of what organization he is a part of. Whatever organization the OP decides to pursue, I just hope he's done his research first.
