"We're not going to Guam, are we?"
BEST. I was pleasantly surprised to see him back. And the cliffhanger never fails.

WHAT DID BEN DO AT THE MARINA??? He had BETTER not have messed with Desmond, Penny, or Charlie.

My boyfriend thinks that Ben killed Penny since he said that he had a 'promise' left..or something to that effect. And he DID promise Widmore that he would kill his daughter for killing his.

He would have had to kill Desmond to get to her, and crazy woman said that the island was not done with him yet.....
Maybe if Penny is dead.....That is what is going to make Desmond go back to the island to kill Ben?
Another thought....I think Ben helped Locke hang himself...
I thought last night's episode was kind of a let down....they built up this new time travel thing for 6 episodes and then all of the sudden they are on the island and accomplish their goal? It just seems too strange...

Yeahhh... not my fave either. I didn't really have any of those ohmygodohmygodohmygod moments sitting on the edge of my seat. Yeah, I'm curious about what Ben had to mysteriously take care of => blood all over him... and yeah, the Jin part was cool like all of the cliffhangers are, but for the most part, I didn't like this episode as much as I like others.

Yeah I agree with WTF happened to Ben?
And Aaron? Kate said something really ominous like, "Don't ask me about him ever again."

So my little and I were discussing this week's episode today and we have a few theories:
The passengers on the plane are supposed to be representative of some of the original passengers, and even if some of the passengers are the same, they might not necessarily represent themselves (like Locke replacing Christian).
For example: Sayid was brought on by a woman who looks like a cop, won't leave his side and appears to be escorting him somewhere. The hunch is that he is replacing Kate. The cop with him is representing either Ana Lucia or the agent who was bringing Kate back to the U.S. (could be either, really).
The man who was in line behind Jack at the ticketing area said the same line Sayid said to Jack before the first flight (something about being sorry to hear about his loss), and previews for next week show him on the Island, so he's probably replacing Sayid.
We also suspect that Kate is pregnant (she DID just sleep with Jack), and therefore representing Claire, since she doesn't need to represent herself. Sun, Hurley and Jack are more likely than not themselves (Jack especially).
It's kind of a long-shot, but if you think about it, it makes sense.

All good theories.
I agree with the theory that the reason Ben is beat up is b/c when he said he had a promise to fulfill (or something to that effect), it's b/c his promise was to Widmore. Widmore had Alex killed so Ben killed Penny. After all, he WAS on the boatyard beat up & bloody when he called Jack to tell him to pick up Locke.
Next week's episode looks awesome! Locke is alive? He was talking to the agent that had Sayid. I can't wait for the Jin/Sun reunion.
Hurley brought a guitar on board. Odd isn't it? Maybe Charlie was the one who told him to take it since Charlie had a guitar with him when he was on the plane the first time.

I actually thought about this too. Don't forget, Hurley was carrying a guitar on the plane, so he could be representing Charlie.
I also really don't think Ben killed Penny, I just don't. He is capable of evil, but I don't think he killed her.

I disagree b/c last year, he ordered the crazy Russian guy to kill the 2 women guarding Charlie. He also orchestrated the death of everyone on the island associated with the Dharma Initiative and his own father. He even told Richard to leave his father's body in the car & not to retrieve it. Is it colder to order people to be killed or to kill someone yourself? Either way, I think Ben is capable of way more than you think.

Oh, I definitely think it's possible. Ben really only became 'friends' and helped everyone from the flight to save his own ass. I don't think his motives have ever been pure. I've been waiting for him to do something wrong/bad.

Ok so if the island can move physically and through time, then maybe that giant foot statue is what is left of the Colossus of Rhodes? And maybe the island at one point moved to the Antarctic...that would explain the polar bear from the first season? Who knows, just popped into my head...

As tangelo mentioned, Hurley could be Charlie's proxy (by bringing the guitar).
On F815, Sawyer brought with him a letter that was important to him. On F316, Jack had the letter from Locke. Perhaps Jack is Sawyer's proxy.
On F815, Rose was holding Bernard's wedding ring. On F316, Sun was holding Jin's ring. So, Sun is Rose's proxy.
Even the guy who was standing behind Jack in line at the ticket counter said (paraphrasing), "Sorry about your loss." Sayid said the same thing to Jack before boarding F815 (referring to Christian). So, Sayid has a proxy we haven't really met yet.
Not long after LOST started, the creators said that everything we needed to know was in the pilot. I'm starting to see now why they said that. (Although part of me wonders whether the 'pilot' with all the answers is Lapedus, not the pilot episode.)
