Ordinarily, it shouldn't UNLESS the candidate politicizes it. Obama's church is relevant because he is trying to appeal to Evangelicals and other religious/moralistic voters; I think the Black church has been unfairly demonized but it is nonetheless relevant. Palin's children are relevant because she has politicized them. Her unmarried teenage daughter is a result of the failure of her abstinence-only philosophy. Her son going to Iraq is relevant because apparently she didn't pay much attention to the 5+ year old war, the most pressing foreign policy arena of our time, until her own family was affected.

Believe me, I truly dislike this war, but that boy ought to be lauded for his choice to serve in the military. More than likely that he was trying to get out of Alaska and that was one way of doing it... The only thing I hope is that he comes back relatively healthy both mentally and physically. However, I heard that is doubtful no matter how much money folks put in to the mental health system at the VA... I've heard it is not good at all. And what I am reading about the mental health research reports, these folks ain't getting nothin back...

However, the military personnel are allowed to join the peace corps if they want to see the world. And if the Palin's were so religious, how come they did not go on Missions like Mitt Romney's family members did or even the pastors at Saddleback did?

It's that hypocrisy or doublespeak again...
