I figure it would help someone understand my situation better so maybe they could help me. I was exteremly commited to my chapter until they let ME down.

And I wanted to get into another NPC sorority that would do something. However, now that I'm being told it's not possible, I just get into hopeful one or two service sororities.
I colored that last sentence for posterity.

I sure hope that it's not my sorority, because membership is not for those who are disgruntled by a social sorority who they pledged AND INITIATED INTO, and who waited until after taking her oaths to follow the ideals and missions set before her to decide it's not good enough for her.

Gamma Sigma Sigma is a place for those who wish to promise and uphold the ideals of friendship, service and equality. Our sisterhood is founded upon the mission of SERVICE TO HUMANITY.

In this vein, to paraphrase JFK, ask not what your sorority can do for you, but what you can do for your sorority. You have proven that you didn't want to give back because it wasn't giving you what you had expected or wanted.

Just because our membership is open to anyone who fulfills the requirements does not mean that everyone who starts out pledging (Membership in Training) will get initiated. The training period is time where you demonstrate your commitment to service on campus, in the community, and your fellow man/woman. In other words, you have to put the work in to become a member.

If anyone finds this reply defensive, I only mean it out of respect as to why Gamma Sigma Sigma exists and thrives today. It's only because too many people take for granted Gamma Sig's existence. In fact, those who enter membership with intentions such as the OP stated, probably won't make it far enough to become a member. We aren't for people who didn't find a fit in a social or other sorority. We have a unique purpose for which we are sought out.

I might add that several of our founders also belonged to social (NPC) sororities, and that dual membership is nothing to be frowned upon. The more, the merrier. But only if your heart is in it.
